Cortijo Caņaveral is in the Alpujarras, the southern face of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is a very secluded place, surrounded by high peaks, steep slopes, powerful rocks and natural springs, with vast views through river valleys filled with olive, almond, orange and lemon trees, and abundant flowers. The moors terraced the land, planted trees and made channels to bring water down from the melting snow high above us.
There is breadth and freedom; the horizon unfolds around you, one mountain behind another, and everywhere there is stillness and silence broken only by the sound of the river below or the goat bells on nearby hills.
It is an adventure of the spirit to be here, a wonderful place to clear the mind and listen to nature.
